Black Tap Cooks Up Fourth Location at 177 Ludlow Street

NEW YORK – Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer (“Black Tap”) has signed a 10-year lease for its fourth location at SMA Equities’ 177 Ludlow Street, between Houston and Stanton Streets. Black Tap was long admired in food-lovers’ circles for Michelin star-awarded chef Joe Isidori’s burgers, and it experienced a meteoric rise in popularity when its Crazy Shakes went viral on social media.

Among its most talked about menu offerings are a bevy of unique burger entrees, such as the Steak Au Poivre Burger, Greg Norman Burger, Bison Burger, and even a Vegan Burger. But it is the colorfully over-the-top Crazy Shakes that have become Instagram hits and helped develop the restaurant group’s culinary cult status, including the Cotton Candy Shake, Brooklyn Blackout Shake, Sour Power, and several other king-sized, confectionary-style beverages.

“It was important for us to have a restaurant that could be a great destination for neighborhood families,” says Samy Mahfar of SMA Equities. “We are really glad that after its success in such trend-setting neighborhoods as Soho, the Meatpacking District, and Midtown, Black Tap saw our location as the logical next step in its rapid expansion throughout New York. It’s a transaction that is a testament to the Lower East Side’s rise as a dining destination for everyone.”

James Famularo and Jeff Geoghegan of Eastern Consolidated represented SMA Equities and Black Tap. Adds Mr. Famularo, “We searched high and low for a perfect operator for this space and we couldn’t ask for more with Black Tap. These owners have an established and positive track record in all the areas in which they currently have restaurants.”
Black Tap is expected to open in its newly built out, 2,500-square-foot space in spring 2017. Neighboring hot spots include Mercury Lounge, Pianos, Dirty French, Sweet Chick, Katz’s Delicatessen, and il laboratorio del gelato.
